MyTeamFortress.de:Hello Sean, at first, could you briefly introduce yourself to all the people out there who haven't heard of you yet?!
heyo: Hey, my name is Sean Cutino known as "heyo" on the internet and I make
maps for the source engine. A few maps I've made are cp_junction,
de_stratocorp, and my newest cp_egypt.
MyTeamFortress.de:When did you start with mapping and what made you
decide to start with it?
heyo:I started mapping in Febuary 2005 after I first got HL2. I started
making fun little maps that I didn't release and just would show to
friends. Later on I started making CSS maps and eventually moved on to
make TF2 maps. I really liked the new cartoon style of TF2 and started
making maps for it because I was tired of the completely realistic CSS
style.
MyTeamFortress.de:There's a great difference between your Map cp_egypt and the official ones. Why did you choose Egypt as the theme for a Team Fortress 2 Map?
heyo:I thought that the desert theme of TF2 would definitely fit an Egyptian
theme. I wanted to make a map that didnt have that regular industrial
farm theme that Valve always makes. Also I thought it would be fun to
make ancient egyptian ruins in a cartoony theme.
MyTeamFortress.de:How long did your work on cp_egypt? And what was your motivation to start such a big mapping-project?
heyo:I worked for about 5 months on it. My motivation was just that I wanted
to make a nice looking level that would be fun to play on, and would be
different from the rest.
MyTeamFortress.de:A short while ago you released a second version of your Map. Is cp_egypt finished or will you continue working on it in the time to come?
heyo:I think it's pretty much finished now, I made all the changes I wanted to and have it play pretty well.
MyTeamFortress.de: Do you already have new projects you're working on or will you take a completely different approach in the future?
heyo: Yes, I am going to make another TF2 map soon. I've been thinking about
a few different things to do for my next project, I haven't decided on
which though. I know it's going to be another completely new theme with
a lot of custom materials/models like egypt had.
