Riemu is a Player of the very famous TF2 Team Four Kings. Before that, he has played Medic and Heavy at the austria team HerbsArmy. We have some nice questions about him and of course his team.

MyTeamFortress.de : Hello Riemu, could you briefly introduce yourself?

4K|Riemu: lo, my name is Riemu and i´m a german TF2 player with the 4Kings TF2 squad. I´ve been playing heavy and medic since the release of the beta. I used to play TFC for the Austrian clan "Austrian Fraggers" as a “back line" soldier.


MyTeamFortress.de How long have you and your team been playing together and what were your greatest achievements on the way, both personal- and competitive-wise?:

4K|Riemu: I´ve only been playing with the 4Kings Team since early January; I used to play for the German/Austrian team "HerbsArmy". Therefore, I can´t say much about my achievements with the team yet; but most of the other 4Kings (former Cursed) players are together since the good old TFC days in which they were most famously known as "Team France", the French TFC national team. The biggest competitive achievements so far are: 1st place ESL Release Cup, 1st place SGL Fortification Cup, 1st place ESL Kings of CTF. The biggest personal achievement is without a doubt the recruitment of our medic Gegon (former Fortress Club player), in my eyes he is the best eu-wide medic.


MyTeamFortress.de : How do the "old days" of Team Fortress Classic compare to today's game and community? How do you feel about these changes?

4K|Riemu: Well, you can’t really compare the old days of TFC and the new days of TF2, since these are 2 completely different games and a new revolutionary gameplay. The TFC community mostly consisted of the same players, playing the game for almost 7 years with great success - the arrival of new players was very rare and the community liked being a class of its own. Today’s TF2 community is constantly increasing (and sadly at the same time decreasing) by a wide range of new players from different games which makes it very unique and colourful. Yet, I’m still waiting for the big rush to come...


MyTeamFortress.de : With support from big leagues such as the ESL and a fairly high position up in the Steam User Statistics, has there been a noticeable change in public interest?

4K|Riemu: That depends a lot on the perspective. The public game on the one hand finds a lot attraction, even with players from other games and is therefore still increasing. Competitive gaming on the other hand has a lot of drops to bemoan, especially from really good clans (f.e. veil, blood pressure). The future of competitive gaming is imo very gloomy and ambiguous.


MyTeamFortress.de : We have the impression there's a lot of international competition and practising going on. How large would you estimate the gaps in "skill" between the different teams and countries? Who's out there, national and/or international, that you feel poses a threat to the success of your own team?

4K|Riemu: To be honest, we only have 2 real arch-enemies right now - charge and kompaniet. Both clans are really really tough and very challenging to play with and against. But of course we can lose against other clans too if they catch us on the wrong foot! The skill-gap is most clearly visible with german teams right now - since the closure of veil and the fallback of HerbsArmy, the german TF2 community doesn´t really have teams to tackle the strong nations UK, Sweden and France. Yet, there are some rising stars on the horizon which hopefully can form a strong german team soon..


MyTeamFortress.de : Who are you practicing with at the moment?

4K|Riemu: We don´t really have fixed practice teams - we just play whoever comes to our attention.


MyTeamFortress.de : Most of the team consists of french guys with you being the only non-French-speaking entity on the team, how do you communicate? What problems arise during a war?

4K|Riemu: Well, we try (they try) to communicate in English as much as possible - but since their Brain "thinks" in French they have a hard time to adapt. We never had any problems so far tho and the more we play, the more French words add to my knowledge


MyTeamFortress.de : After joining 4Kings, what's changed so far for you and the team? Are there any immediate effects upon joining such a well-known and professional Organisation as 4Kings?

4K|Riemu: Along with 3 new channels on my perform list and a new clantag, not much. TF2 is still kinda new and alot of things need to develop over time.


MyTeamFortress.de : How did you come in contact with them in the first place?

4K|Riemu: We know Ben (aka AphexTwin) from our TFC time - some even played with him for famous clans like Bodycount and SHS. He was interested in TF2 and he knew our (well theirs, not mine *g*) results in TFC. The rest is history.


MyTeamFortress.de : Would you give us some insight into the very basics of announcing the tactics etc.?

4K|Riemu: Well, to be honest we don’t announce that much anymore. The game mostly became routine and every player knows his task. Still, we announce important things like "rush right side, ubercharge ready" or "fall back, secure cp3" since not every player has a clear overview over the battlefield at all times. The rest is mostly French cursing *g*


MyTeamFortress.de : What is the next big thing you guys have set your sights on?

4K|Riemu: Well, clearly Nr. 1 in ETF2L Cup. But charge and fof² will give us a hard time here I’m afraid


MyTeamFortress.de : One final question. If you had to turn one of your teammates female and take him erm her to a deserted island, who would it be?

4K|Riemu: That´s easy! Without a doubt Epsylon!
